French Bread

An easy recipe for making bread in your Cuisinart.
Ingredients½ cup warm water 2¼ Tsp active dry yeast3 cups unbleached, all-purpose or bread flour2 Tbs wheat germ1 cup cold water1½ Tsp sea or kosher saltCornmeal for dusting the pan InstructionsPlace the yeast and warm water in the bowl of the Cuisinart Hand Stand Mixer with a pinch of the flour. Stir to dissolve yeast and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes. Mixture will foam and bubble – this means the yeast is alive and active. Place the flour and wheat germ in a separate bowl and stir. Add the cold water, salt and ½ cup of the flour mixture to the yeast mixture. Insert the flat beaters. Using speed 1, mix until smooth, about 30 to 40 seconds. Continue adding the flour mixture, ½ cup at a time, mixing completely – about 30 to 40 seconds – until no flour is visible after each addition.
