Where Did Country Yumkins Come From?

Did you ever see the Country Yumkins promotion from Del Monte? This was one of our biggest promotions of all time - and you never even new Greunke Company was involved.

By the end of the third year of the promotion, 1.5 million Country Yumkins were ordered by more than 1 million consumers, about 700,000 of which had paid entirely by Del Monte product labels.

Baked Brie

Ingredients1/2 package frozen puff pastry, thawed, or 1 pkg. refrigerator crescent rolls1 (8 oz) package brie cheese, round1 egg, beaten1/8 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.)1/4 cup jam (any type you want, apricot, blackberry, raspberry, etc) DirectionsPreheat oven to 425.Lightly grease cookie sheet.Roll puff pastry, or dough, out slightly.Mix nuts and jam and spread in the center of the dough.Place cheese wheel on top (leave rind on).Bundle dough up and around the cheese.Brush top with egg.Bake for 20-25 minutes.Let cool for five minutes.
Serve with your favorite crackers.

Moules Marinieres

Moules marinières is also known as Sailor's mussels, Mariner's mussels or mussels in white wine and cream sauce. Moules marinières can be served as an appetizer or as a light entree. It is delicious served with crusty sourdough bread, although the French traditionally serve it with French fries, which they dip into the delectable sauce and juices.

Olive oil can be substituted for the butter for a slightly healthier meal.
Ingredients2.2 lb of fresh live mussels2 cloves of chopped garlic1 finely chopped onion5 fl oz (150ml) of dry white wine2 oz of butter1 large handful of finely chopped parsley4 Tbs of cream (single or double)salt and pepper DirectionsClean, debeard and rinse the mussels several times in cold running water and set aside in a colander (see our section on preparing mussels before cooking).Pick out any mussels that are open and don't snap shut when tapped and discard them.Melt the butter in a large saucepan and then add the chopped onion and garlic.
